McLean County Unit District No. 5 Board of Education met June 3.

Attendees: Dayna Brown, Mark Daniel, Kelly Pyle, Meta Mickens-Baker Strategic Planning:
Will send a proposed strategic plan to the board in July with vote anticipated in early August CAC Meetings:
Will plan for 6 meetings this school year.
Still occur on Wednesdays but may be variable in terms of 1st, 3rd or 5th Wednesday of month.
Calendar of dates will be available soon.
Officer meeting will tentatively be scheduled for late July 2019--other topics for meetings will be proposed at this meeting.
Proposed topics: Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and reducing achievement gaps; budget resolution/possible referendum; play-based kindergarten; will mix in other topics that may be more informational
Goal of CAC: share information about what is happening in the district, understand what communications gaps exist between families and the district, have CAC advocate to home PTOs and parents about district’s plans, to support changes that district needs. Is there a way for schools to carry “district message” rather than area news outlet providing their perspective of message.
