City of Fairbury City Council met Aug. 7.

Sewer Superintendent Duncan reported
7th Street will not bepaved now; the county wants more compaction prior to paving
Vacuum pump in the lab went out so he purchase a new one
Water Superintendent Ifft was absent
Chief of Police McCormick reported
The new hires are in their first week of academy
Reissued uniforms and equipment that has accumulated over the years
PDC Weekend went well; no significant issues to report
Will work with Matt Curl from the speedway next summer on golf carts attending PDC
Another parttime officer has been hired

City Attorney Mann reported
He will draft gaming regulations to be considered by the Council

Motion by Weber, second by Hoselton to approve a request from Craig and Connie Crutcher to block Locust Street between 4th& 5thStreets from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 15, 2019 for the 4thAnnual RIDE TO REMEMBER MEMORIAL RIDE; also requests a Police escort from the VFW to 1st& Oak Street when the ride begins at 10:30 a.m. Motion carried 7-0. E. Consideration of a bid from Beni ch Constructionin the amount of $39,521.06for sealcoating FAILED FOR LACK OF A MOTION
Motion by Kinate, second by Endres to approve a request for Mike Mellott and Bob Ziegenhorn to attend the 88thAnnual Illinois Potable Water Supply Operators Association Conference in Springfieldfrom September 1113 in the amount of $450 for registration and $238 plus tax for hotel accommodations.
