City of Fairbury Planning Commission met Sept. 11.
Here is the agenda provided by the commission:
The Planning Commission held a meeting at 12 Noon. Members present were Chairman Rick Wilson, Leroy McPherson, Tracy Taylor and Michael Blackwell, Ron Schlipf, Bekah Fehr and Jeremy Leman. Also in attendance were City Superintendent Brett Ashburn and Planning Commission secretary Stephanie Meints.
Review of minutes from July 10, 2019: Motion by McPherson, second by Blackwell to approve. Motion carried unanimously.
On January 1, 2020 the legalization of marijuana will take place in Illinois. The Planning commission discussed the pros and cons of allowing dispensaries in the City of Fairbury. They were also asked that should they allow dispensaries in the City what zoning stipulations would they put on it, or if they would even allow it.
Rick Wilson stated that he would like more input from the citizens, medical professionals, and law enforcement officials.
The Planning Commission made a recommendation to gather more information from the States Attorney, police, Medical professionals, and citizens before making a recommendation to the Zoning Board or City council.
