McLean County Transportation Committee met June 2.

The Transportation Committee of the McLean County Board met at 8:00 a.m. in Room 404 of the Government Center, 115 E. Washington St., Bloomington, Illinois.
Members Present: Chairman William Caisley Members Randall Martin, Logan Smith, Gerald Thompson Shayna Watchinski and William Friedrich (via remote attendance)
Members Absent: Member Elizabeth Johnston
Other Members Present: None
Staff Members Present: Ms. Camille Rodriguez, County Administrator, Ms. Julie Morlock, Recording Secretary, Ms. Jessica Woods Assistant State’s Attorney Civil Division (remote attendance)
Department Heads Present: Mr. Jerry Stokes, County Engineer (remote attendance)
Others Present: Mr. Luke Hohulin, Assistant County Engineer; (remote attendance)
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Caisley at 8:00 a.m. and a quorum declared.
Chairman Caisley presented a transfer and prepaid bills in the amount of $1,727,987.33 for review and approval.
Motion by Friedrich/Smith to recommend payment of bills as submitted by the County Auditor in the amount of $1,727,987.33.
Motion carried.
Chairman Caisley presented the minutes from the May 5, 2020 regular meeting for review and approval.
Motion by Thompson/Martin to approve the minutes from the May 5, 2020 regular meeting.
Motion Carried.
Chairman Caisley confirmed no other appearances by members of the public or employees.
Chairman Caisley presented for action a request to approve a Resolution for May 26, 2020 Project Letting.
Motion by Martin/Friedrich recommend approval of a Resolution for May 26, 2020 Project Letting.
Motion Carried.
Chairman Caisley presented for action a request to approve the Bridge Construction Petition for Joint Culvert Replacement #1, West Road District. Mr. Caisley asked about culverts. Mr. Stokes went over type of culvert being utilized and confirmed it will handle the same amount of water as the old round culverts.
Motion by Watchinski/Friedrich to recommend approval of the Bridge Construction Petition for Joint Culvert Replacement #1, West Road District
Motion Carried.
Chairman Caisley presented for action a request to approve Motor Fuel Tax Resolutions for Ropp Road, Section 20-00056-11-RS, CH39. Mr. Caisley asked if this is a sealant. Mr. Stokes indicated it would be a cold in place recycling and with overlay of hot mix in this three- mile section. Mr. Stokes indicated they wanted to get this into the Illinois Department of Transportation as soon as possible as there was a question about additional funding.
Motion by Thompson/Watchinski to recommend approval of Motor Fuel Tax Resolutions for Ropp Road, Section 20-00056-11-RS, CH39.
Motion Carried.
Chairman Caisley presented for action a request to approve Motor Fuel Tax Resolution for Olympia School Road, Section 20-00122-04-RS, CH 34. Mr. Stokes indicated this road was last done in 1996 and they would be milling off old and placing an overlay.
Motion by Smith/Martin to recommend approval of Motor Fuel Tax Resolutions for Olympia School Road, Section 20-00122-04-RS, CH 34.
Motion Carried.
Mr. Stokes indicated hired summer laborers at the Highway Department for mowing and patch work.
Mr. Stokes updated the Committee on projects including the Gridley Road mill and resurface project hope that milling will be done this week and then indicated the Colfax-Weston Road seven-mile project is complete.
Chairman Caisley asked if there was anything under other business. Mr. Friedrich asked if there had been any problems with vandalism at any of our buildings. Ms. Rodriguez indicated there had not been to any of the facilities at this time. Mr. Stokes agreed they have not seen any damage to any buildings or equipment. Ms. Rodriguez indicated she had not heard from the Sheriff yet on any damages to vehicles they might have obtained.
Chairman Caisley asked if there was anything else to come before the Committee; hearing nothing, he adjourned the meeting at 8:13 a.m.
