City of Lexington issued the following announcement on Dec. 4.
Our Lexington Kiwanis was about to cancel our December Give and Take, when, just in the nick of time, Kim Yates and Star Torkelson at City Hall came up with a brilliant plan to offer a virtual Give and Take!
Here is how it will work. People will be able to email Star (collector@lexingtonillinois.org) to request their needs. Donors will be able to see on the Lexington Give and Take facebook page and the Lexington Illinois Kiwanis facebook page the needs of fellow Lexingtonians, and will be asked to email Star that they have dug through their closets and have found the gently-used, needed items and will bring items to City Hall. Once the items have been dropped off, the person who requested them will be contacted to come pick them up. All this will be done using codes for the names of those requesting and those donating.
Please email Star by December 10th to request needs; Donations must be brought to City Hall by December 21st. Please be watching the Lexington Kiwanis Give and Take facebook page or the Lexington Illinois Kiwanis facebook page, from now to December 21st to see if you can supply a neighbor with items you no longer need.
Only requested items will be accepted at City Hall.
