After leading the Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team to a first-place finish at the WashU Spring Invitational and taking home medalist honors, freshman Macy Ludwig (Effingham, Ill.-St. Anthony) was recognized as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Golfer of the Week Tuesday, April 5. It is the second weekly honor of her career and the fourth by a Titan this season.
Ludwig shot the program's lowest round ever with a 67 on day one of the WashU Spring Invitational, April 3. The three-under round from the freshman fueled IWU to its lowest round in school history, shooting a 290, to break the mark set by the 2017-18 squad at the 2017 IWU Fall Classic.
Illinois Wesleyan went on to win the tournament by an eight-stroke cushion, defeating a number of top-25 ranked teams in the process. Individually, Ludwig paced the Titans as she finished the 36-hole tournament tied for first with a career-best score of 145.
Ludwig and the Green and White are back in action this weekend, April 9-10, as hosts of the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling at Ironwood Golf Course.
