The Illinois Wesleyan University men's basketball team is set to participate in the Gorlok Classic, hosted by Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. The tournament will take place on November 22-23 and feature four teams. Illinois Wesleyan, currently ranked 16th, will face Westminster College on Friday at 6 p.m., followed by a game against Webster on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Illinois Wesleyan enters the tournament with a 3-0 record after a victory over the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Both Westminster and Webster are seeking their first wins of the season, with records of 0-3.
Webster University will provide live streaming and stats for the games. Additionally, Eric Stock and Joel Swanson will broadcast the matches on Titan radio.
The event marks a return to St. Louis for seniors Nick Roper and Harrison Wilmsen, as well as sophomore Brady Kuehl, all from the area.
Historically, Illinois Wesleyan has maintained an undefeated record against both Westminster and Webster. The last encounter with these teams was during the 2018 Gorlok Classic when Illinois Wesleyan won both games.
Illinois Wesleyan's defense has been strong this season, limiting opponents to a shooting percentage of 34.6 percent over three games. Coach Ron Rose is leading his alma mater for the 18th season with an overall record of 325-158.
The Titans have appeared in D3hoops.com's Top-25 rankings 190 times, ranking eighth-most all-time and most in their conference.
Following this weekend's tournament, Illinois Wesleyan will play against the University of Chicago on November 27.
