Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse senior attacker Rick Smith (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way West) was named Honorable Mention All-America Thursday, May 26, as the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association announced its postseason teams. It is the second straight year Smith has received the honor.

A dominant attacker, Smith scored a team-high 50 goals this season, while tacking on 20 assists for a team-best 70 points. A First Team All-CCIW selection, he tallied 38 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers. Smith, who finished his career second on IWU's all-time goals list, ranked second in the conference in goals per game (3.33), third in points per game (5.00), seventh in assists per game (1.67), and seventh in shots per game (8.50). He was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week, April 11, following a six-goal performance against North Central and a three-point effort in a blowout win over Carthage.

Smith was one of just two College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin student-athletes to make the list. A team captain for the Titans, Smith led IWU to its fourth consecutive CCIW regular season title as the Green and White posted a 6-0 mark in conference play for the fourth straight year.
