City of Fairbury City Council met June 1.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of Council answered present: Gary Norris, Steve Endres, Charles Hoselton, Jon Kinate, Bruce Weber, Gerald Hoffman, James Tipton and Bill Schmidgall.

3. Pledge of Allegiance

4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Kinate, second by Hoselton to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:

A. Minutes from the May 18, 2022, council meeting

B. Voucher Invoice Register listing the bills

C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month)

D. Check Register (second meeting of the month)

E. 101 E Elm – 225 sq ft @ $2.50 per ft = $562.50

F. Overtime Report

5. Mayor Slagel opened Public Comment and the following persons provided comments:

• A letter is being drafted and will be sent to residents soon detailing the changes with garbage/recycling collection

• He’d like to meet about 15 minutes early before the next meeting to go over final details to be included in the letter

→ Legal – Steven Mann, City Attorney was absent

A. Consideration of an ordinance amending Chapter 13, Section .05 in relation to parking motor homes, trailers and boats – WILL BE ACTED ON IN CONJUCTION WITH 10 H

A. Motion by Hoselton, second by Schmidgall to award the 2022-2023 Motor Fuel project to McLean County Asphalt in the amount of $44,996.88. Motion carried 8-0. YES-Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

B. Motion by Weber, second by Hoffman to approve a quote in the amount of $6,670 from Gomez Landscaping to maintain downtown planter boxes for 2022. Motion carried 8-0.

C. Motion by Hoselton, second by Hoffman to approve a quote from Sidener Supplies in the amount of $2,960.39 to replace and rebuild equipment for chlorine treatment at the Water Plant. Motion carried 8-0. YES-Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

D. Motion by Weber, second by Schmidgall to approve a request from Dave’s Supermarket to close 3rd Street in front of the store on Tuesday, June 14th from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. for their annual Customer Appreciation Pig-Out. Motion carried 8-0. YES-Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

E. Motion by Norris, second by Tipton to approve Resolution No. 2022-6-1 to re-appoint Dominy Memorial Library Trustees Gary Hofmann and Marcia Walter effective July 1, 2022 for a 3-year term. Motion carried 8-0. YES-Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

F. Motion by Endres, second by Weber to approve a request from the family of Carol Aberle to install a memorial bench in either North Park or Sunken Park with the possible addition of a tree; the family also asks the city to consider installing the concrete pad for the bench. G. Motion by Weber, second by Hoselton to approve the purchase a swivel dump chute for fire tanker #242 from MacQueen in the amount of $6,129. Motion carried 8-0. YESNorris Endres Hoselton Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

H. Motion by Kinate, second by Endres to approve Ordinance No. 2022-7 amending Chapter 12, Section 18 A, B, C, D. Motion carried 6-2. YES-Norris Endres Kinate Weber Hoffman Schmidgall NO-Hoselton Tipton

o Mayor Slagel received a complaint from a 4th Street resident that the Scotty McCreary concert was too loud
