Mitchell Garners NABC & D3hoops.com All-Region Honors

 Senior forward Cody Mitchell (St. Charles, Ill.-St. Charles East) of the Illinois Wesleyan University men's basketball team was named to the All-Region 8 Second Team by both the National Association of Basketball Coaches and D3hoops.com Tuesday, March 14. He was one of five College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin student-athletes to earn all-region distinctions from both organizations.

Mitchell, a co-captain for the Titans, was a unanimous First Team All-CCIW selection. He averaged a near double-double with 14.2 points and 9.8 rebounds per contest. He topped the team in rebounding and blocks, while ranking second in scoring. Mitchell posted single-game highs of 24 points and 15 rebounds in a win over Carroll, Feb. 4. He finished the season second in the CCIW in rebounding, seventh in blocks, ninth in free throw percentage, and 11th in scoring. Mitchell tallied 11 double-doubles throughout the season, and eclipsed 20 points five times. 

The St. Charles, Ill. native amassed 681 points, including a career-high 368 this season, and grabbed 521 rebounds throughout his four-year career. In 2022-23, Mitchell registered single season career-highs in points, rebounds, steals, assists, field goal percentage, and free throws made.

The Titans finished the season with a 12-14 record, placed sixth in the CCIW, and fell in the CCIW Tournament Quarterfinals.
