Senator Thomas M. Bennett recently announced a significant investment in Incobrasa Industries' soybean manufacturing facility in Gilman, Illinois. With a capital investment of $250 million, Incobrasa will expand its operations to include a biodiesel production plant and a solar array. This expansion aims to meet the growing demands for high-blend renewable fuel and further boost the agricultural industry in Illinois.
As the leader in soybean production, Illinois must capitalize on opportunities to create more jobs, stimulate the economy, and provide valuable soybean products to the world. Senator Bennett emphasized the importance of investing in plants like Incobrasa to meet recent demands for renewable fuel. By doing so, Illinois can continue to be at the forefront of soybean production and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Incobrasa Industries has a rich history that dates back to 1982 when it was first established in Brazil. In 1995, the company expanded its operations to the United States, and in 1997, it opened a crushing facility in Gilman, Illinois. Over the years, Incobrasa has continued to expand, adding an oil refinery, packaging facility for food-grade vegetable oil, and a biodiesel production plant.
The 170,000 square foot expansion at Incobrasa's facility is expected to more than double its production capacity by 2030. This significant growth will not only benefit the company but also contribute to job creation and economic development in the region. The project has received support from the EDGE tax credit and a million-dollar grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Energy for America Program (REAP).
Senator Bennett's commitment to supporting businesses that invest in Illinois communities and spur economic development is evident in his endorsement of this investment. With the expansion of Incobrasa Industries, the state of Illinois can continue to foster a thriving agricultural industry, create jobs, and contribute to a sustainable future through the production of high-blend renewable fuel.
