Desi Anderson, a candidate for the 91st State House District, has criticized her opponent, incumbent State Rep. Sharon Chung (D-Bloomington), for her social media focus on the United Nations.

Anderson accused Chung of being "out of touch" and emphasized the need for a more local focus by state representatives.

"Really? Did she become the spokesperson for the United Nations? I thought she was my LOCAL representative? So many challenges facing our communities here in the 91st that she could be talking about," Anderson said.

Anderson’s remarks came in response to Chung’s social media posts, which included content related to the United Nations and the commemoration of various “international days.”

In September, Anderson, a business owner and mother from rural Carlock, announced her candidacy for the State Representative position in the 91st State House District, challenging the incumbent Democrat, Sharon Chung. Anderson expressed a commitment to common-sense, freedom-focused solutions and addressing the concerns of working families and farmers in her announcement to represent the district.

“For too long now, we have watched the state of Illinois move in the wrong direction,” Anderson said in her announcement. “Unfortunately, Springfield has gone away from the common sense, freedom focused solutions that so many of our neighbors believe in, and want to see reflected in their government. Instead, out of touch lawmakers fail to consider the working families, farmers, and future generations when voting on legislation significant to our livelihood. I am ready to put in the time and energy to get Illinois back on track, create a prosperous future for our kids, and put Illinois families at the forefront.”

The 91st House District encompasses portions of McLean, Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford counties.
