Desi Anderson, a candidate for the House District 91 State Representative position, expressed gratitude on Facebook for the "Heels for the House" event, an initiative aimed at promoting collaboration and support for women in leadership roles. Anderson, a business owner and mother from rural Carlock, is challenging incumbent State Rep. Sharon Chung (D-Bloomington) in the upcoming election.
“Heels for the House event, women supporting women! Thank You, Leader @mccombieforilli for helping organize this wonderful event,” Anderson said on Facebook.
The Heels for the House event, which aimed to foster collaboration and support for women in leadership roles, provided attendees, including Anderson, with an opportunity to engage with influential leaders.
The "Heels for the House" fundraiser received backing from House Minority Leader Tony McCombie (R-Savanna) and served as a platform for attendees to connect with influential leaders while also contributing to the House Women’s Leadership initiative. The event underscored female empowerment and fund-raising efforts to bolster the initiative. McCombie actively promoted community involvement by underlining the importance of supporting women occupying leadership positions. Special guest Congresswoman Mayra Flores also attended the function to boost advocacy for female leadership through collaborative efforts.
In September, when announcing her candidacy, Anderson highlighted her dedication to sensible solutions focused on freedom, as well as addressing concerns pertinent to working families and farmers within the 91st State House District. Expressing worries about Illinois's trajectory, she stressed an urgent need to pivot towards sensible strategies that resonate with community values. She stated that her campaign's goal is ushering positive change with focus on ensuring prosperity for Illinois families and prioritizing their concerns in legislative decisions.
The 91st House District includes parts of McLean, Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties.
