The central Illinois community mourns the loss of longtime judge and former McLean County Board member, Bill Caisley, who passed away at the age of 84. His death has sparked an outpouring of condolences and remembrances, including a heartfelt message from House District 91 candidate, Desi Anderson.

"So sad to hear about the passing of Judge Caisley," she said. "He served our community so faithfully, my thoughts and prayers go out to the Caisley family during this time."

Caisley's illustrious career spanned several decades. Starting as an attorney, he later ascended to the bench. A notable case that marked his name in local history was a labor dispute involving Normal firefighters in 1978. The dispute resulted in a 42-day strike, marking the longest firefighters’ strike in history, according to WGLT.

A dedicated Republican, Caisley transitioned into politics, serving an impressive 14 years on the McLean County Board. In a surprising decision in 2020, he chose not to seek re-election. His legacy extends beyond his legal and political contributions; he was known for his vibrant personality and unwavering dedication to community service. According to a news release, colleagues and constituents admired his principled approach to politics and his tireless efforts in strengthening local institutions.

Anderson resides with her husband and son in the rural area of Carlock. Alongside her husband Nick, she manages a wedding venue situated on their property north of Heyworth. Anderson also brings prior experience from her internship with former U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis, as reported by WGLT.

Anderson has expressed her commitment to pragmatic, liberty-focused strategies designed to address challenges confronting working families and farmers in the 91st State House District. She voiced concerns about Illinois veering off course and emphasized the importance of adopting sensible solutions that align with community values. Anderson stated that through her candidacy, she aims to instigate constructive transformations, prioritizing the welfare of Illinois families and giving precedence to their concerns in legislative decisions.

The 91st House District encompasses parts of McLean, Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties. The current representative is State Rep. Sharon Chung (D-Bloomington), who will also be contesting for the same seat in the upcoming primary election scheduled for March 19, according to Ballotpedia.
