Decatur, IL – Regan Deering, the conservative Republican candidate for State Representative in the 88th district, today announced she has been endorsed by the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) State Lodge, representing over 34,000 active and retired officers.
"Regan Deering listens to the concerns of the law enforcement officers who protect our communities, and will fight for the men and women who put their lives on the line every day to keep our citizens safe,” said Illinois FOP State Lodge President Chris Southwood. “Regan feels that it’s the heroes in blue, and not the perpetrators in the shadows, that should be backed by state government, and that is why she has our support in this election.”
"I am honored to have the endorsement of the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police, whose officers are the thin blue line standing between order and chaos. In the General Assembly, the police are ignored, undermined, and disrespected,” said Regan Deering. “I will advocate for policies that back our police, bringing their concerns and ideas to Springfield to get legislation passed that will prioritize law enforcement over criminals."
Illinois is often seen as the poster child for the war on police and the radical defund the police movement. In the first state in the nation to abolish cash bail, Governor Pritzker and the General Assembly have made clear they are more concerned with coddling criminals than protecting families and backing up front-line police officers.
Deering offers a 180-degree difference in perspective and is fully committed to prioritizing public safety by backing the blue.
“Gov. Pritzker and the Democrat majority’s commitment to handcuffing cops while releasing criminals is insanity. I’m proud to have FOP’s backing because they know I have their officers’ back,” stated Deering.
