"Illinois’ unclaimed property program, ICASH, is helping residents reunite with their missing money, including forgotten bank accounts, uncashed checks, stocks, dividends, or life insurance policies of deceased relatives. According to the program, one in four Illinois adults discover property to claim when they search, with an average claim of $1,000. The State Treasurer is currently holding over $5 billion in unclaimed funds, urging residents to check if some of it belongs to them."
