As the corn grows taller in the 106th district, residents are being urged to exercise caution at intersections. The dense growth of corn significantly reduces visibility, making it imperative for everyone—whether walking, biking, driving an ATV, a vehicle, or operating farm equipment—to stop at corners.

"Even if you don’t have a stop sign… STOP at the corners," advises local authorities. "Even if you know the other direction has a stop sign… STOP at the corners."

The tall corn obstructs all visibility at intersections. Authorities warn that relying on signs such as dust flying up during the day or headlights at night is insufficient. "STOP at the corners," they emphasize.

Residents are reminded not to assume that drivers from other directions will stop. The peak growing season has seen numerous accidents resulting in injuries and fatalities due to blind corners.

"Life is precious and being in a hurry just isn’t worth it…. take the extra time and always stop at the corners," officials urge.

In closing remarks, authorities stress: "I could continue on this soap box all day, but I’ll stop here. Stay safe everybody!"
