NEW ORLEANS – The Illinois State men's and women's track & field teams, along with 12 individual Redbird student-athletes, have been honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their academic achievements.
To qualify for All-Academic distinction as a team, the cumulative GPA for all student-athletes on the institution's NCAA Squad List for Indoor and/or Outdoor Track and Field must be 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period. This must be certifiable by either an NCAA Faculty Representative, NCAA Compliance Coordinator, or Registrar's Office.
For individual All-Academic distinction, Illinois State student-athletes needed a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and had to either finish the season ranked in the top 96 in any championship individual event or in the top 48 in any championship relay event for the most recent indoor season. Alternatively, they could qualify by participating in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
The Redbird men earned USTFCCCA All-Academic team honors with a cumulative GPA of 3.24, while the women's team was recognized for its combined GPA of 3.49. Twelve student-athletes were individually recognized:
