The Illinois Wesleyan University softball team has achieved a significant academic milestone, with 12 student-athletes being named National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Scholar-Athletes. This recognition was announced by the NFCA on Tuesday, August 6.
The honored athletes include Maya Black (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood), Annika Brown (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community), Kennady Estes (Warrenton, Mo.-Warrenton), Megan Fontanetta (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Buffalo Grove), Margo Geary (St. Charles, Ill.-St. Charles North), Mallory Holland (Shelbyville, Ill.-Shelbyville), Ava Khoury (Columbia, Ill.-Columbia), Jen Kuhn (Normal, Ill.-University High), Hailey Milgazo (Poway, Calif.-Poway), Elyssa Stenger (Bloomington, Ill.-Central Catholic), Bailey Turner (Normal, Ill.-Normal West), and Hope Yeoman (Lafayette, Ind.-William Henry Harrison).
Illinois Wesleyan University led the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin in the number of student-athletes recognized. Elmhurst University followed closely with 10 honorees.
This academic achievement concludes a successful year for the Titans. The team secured both the CCIW regular season and tournament titles and won its first NCAA regional game since 2019.
