BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team will begin its 2024-25 campaign at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Fall Invitational on Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 7-8. The tournament will be hosted by Carthage College at Smeds Tennis Center in Kenosha, Wis.

Head Coach Sam Totten returns for his seventh season leading the men's tennis squad and brings back eight members of the 2023-24 team that posted a 9-10 overall record and reached the quarterfinals of the CCIW Tournament. Junior Ian Turnbull (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington), a two-time Second Team All-CCIW selection, is among the returning players. Playing in the No. 1 singles and part of the No. 1 doubles slots, Turnbull recorded a 3-5 individual record and a 2-6 paired record alongside then-senior Ryan McCoy (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Rolling Meadows) in the CCIW slate. Turnbull and fellow junior Ben Vigneri (Casper, Wyo.-Phillips Exeter Academy) will captain the team this season.

Turnbull and then-freshman Thad Dillow (Effingham, Ill.-Effingham) aim to improve on their seventh-place finishes at last year's CCIW Fall Invite. Turnbull competed in Singles Flight 1, while Dillow was in Flight 2; both posted an overall record of 1-2.

Two Titans competed in Singles Flight 6 as then-sophomore Griffin Hammond (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora Township) and then-junior Zeke Cross (Springfield, Ill.-Springfield) were set to face off for fifth place but ultimately decided not to compete against each other.

In doubles action, Dillow and Hammond paired up to secure a fifth-place finish in Flight 3 with a 2-1 record.

Results will be posted on iwusports.com upon completion of the tournament.
