The Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team concluded a successful weekend at the Crafted Classic on Saturday, September 7. The Titans (4-2) secured victories against Loras College and Webster University, both in straight sets. Juniors Taylor French, Hannah Tellor, and Kannyn Boyd were named to the Crafted Classic All-Tournament Team.
In their first match of the day, Illinois Wesleyan defeated Loras College (5-2) with set scores of 25-14, 25-19, and 25-14. The Titans achieved a .306 team attack percentage while limiting Loras to a .126 clip. They also led in kills (44-24), assists (39-23), digs (49-31), and service aces (13). Both teams recorded four total blocks.
Senior Morgan Harrington initiated the match with a kill from sophomore Sophia Feeney's assist. This sparked an early lead for IWU. The Titans maintained control throughout the set, eventually winning it 25-14.
In the second set, Harrington again opened with a kill. A six-point run led by French extended IWU's lead to 11-5. Despite a brief comeback attempt by Loras, IWU secured the set at 25-19 with French delivering the final point.
The third set saw another strong performance from IWU as they capitalized on Loras' errors to secure an 8-1 run and ultimately win the set 25-14.
French led IWU's offense with 12 kills on a .379 attack percentage. Bardouniotis matched her career-high with nine kills on a .583 clip. Tellor and Harrington each contributed nine kills as well. Feeney and Erdman orchestrated most of the offense with 19 and 16 assists respectively.
Defensively, Boyd recorded 16 digs while French added another double-double performance with her twelve digs. Palmer led net defense efforts with three blocks.
In their second match against Webster University (3-3), Illinois Wesleyan continued their dominance winning in straight sets: 25-7, 26-24, and 25-13. The Titans posted a .202 attack percentage compared to Webster’s sub-zero clip.
Harrington again led offensively with ten kills on a .333 hitting percentage followed by Bardouniotis' seven kills. Feeney contributed thirteen assists while Erdman added eight more.
On defense, French recorded eight digs followed by Feeney and Bardouniotis each adding six digs apiece. Palmer tallied four blocks including one solo stuff.
Illinois Wesleyan will next face No.7 ranked University of Wisconsin–Whitewater on Wednesday night in Whitewater, Wisconsin.
