Illinois State Soccer faced a challenging match against Drake on Sunday, resulting in a 3-0 loss at Mediacom Stadium. The game saw Illinois State's record fall to 2–7–2 overall and 0–2–1 in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC), while Drake improved to 3–5–4 overall and 2–1–0 in the MVC.
The first half was tightly contested until Drake managed to score twice within two minutes, first breaking through in the 32nd minute and then quickly adding another goal in the 34th minute. Ava Watson had an opportunity to put Illinois State ahead earlier with a shot from ten yards out in the 24th minute, but it was saved by Drake. Eve Gricius and Abby Hall also contributed shots on goal for Illinois State during the match.
Drake secured their victory with another goal in the 53rd minute. They led the match statistics with an 11-7 advantage in total shots (6-3 on target) and held a 5-3 lead in corner kicks.
Looking ahead, Illinois State will host Valparaiso on Thursday at Adelaide Street Field.
