The Redbirds secured a 9-4 win against Indiana State in the second game of their three-game series in Terre Haute. This victory brings the Redbirds' season record to 18-27 and 12-8 in conference play.
Delainey Bryant achieved her 50th hit of the season, marking her 29th consecutive game reaching base. This streak ties her for first nationally with Oklahoma's Jayda Coleman and Dayton's Maddie Kapsimalis.
In the game, the Redbirds managed five hits. Key contributors included Delainey Bryant, Abby Knight, Addison Masching, Julia Larson, and Bella Wilkerson, each recording a hit. Paige McLeod pitched five innings, allowing four runs on seven hits, while Hannah Meshnick closed out the game with two scoreless innings.
The game saw both teams scoreless through three innings. The Redbirds scored first in the fourth inning when Delainey Bryant reached second base on a dropped third strike and later scored due to an error by Indiana State. The Sycamores tied it up in their half of the fourth but were unable to capitalize further due to strong defensive plays by the Redbirds.
In the fifth inning, Julia Larson's single brought home Payton Brown as a pinch-runner. The sixth inning saw significant action from the Redbirds as they loaded the bases and scored multiple runs through singles and errors by Indiana State.
Indiana State responded with a three-run homerun in the bottom of the sixth but could not close the gap further. Paige McLeod was credited with the win.
The series concludes tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. CT before Illinois State heads to UNI for their final road series of conference play.
