Illinois State faced a challenging game against Indiana State, ending with a 10-1 loss at Duffy Bass Field. The match, part of the Stuff The Duff 2024 event, attracted 1,064 spectators.
Senior Erik Kubiatowicz pitched for two innings, allowing one run for the Redbirds, who now hold a record of 20-16 overall and 8-6 in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC). Meanwhile, Indiana State improved its record to 28-8 overall and 11-3 in the MVC, having won seven of their last ten games.
The game started with Indiana State taking an early lead due to three walks, a single, and a hit by pitch in the first inning. They extended their lead with additional runs in the third and fourth innings and further secured their win by scoring three times in the seventh inning and once more in the ninth.
Illinois State managed to score their only run in the top of the ninth inning when senior Auggie Rasmussen hit his eighth home run of 2024.
In other highlights from Illinois State's performance: Lawrence has successfully reached base in 22 consecutive games; freshman Lawson Minshew delivered a scoreless sixth inning; and Illinois State had runners in scoring positions during several innings but failed to capitalize on these opportunities.
