Illinois State faced a tough loss against Indiana State, concluding their series with an 11-1 defeat on Sunday at Duffy Bass Field. The Redbirds, now holding a record of 20-17 overall and 8-7 in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC), saw freshman Matthew Donnison pitch 2.1 innings in relief, achieving four strikeouts and conceding two walks.

Indiana State, with a record of 29-8 overall and 12-3 in the MVC, has maintained an impressive performance since the end of the 2022 season. The team has secured victories in their last 15 MVC series.

The game began with Indiana State taking an early lead in the second inning through two home runs, setting the score at 3-0. They extended their advantage to 4-0 in the third inning with a sacrifice fly that scored another run.

Illinois State managed to score in the bottom of the second inning when junior Noah Rabin crossed home plate following an error by Indiana State's left fielder. Junior Tyler Herron advanced to third base during this play.

Indiana State continued to dominate by adding five more runs in the fifth inning and two additional runs in the sixth, pushing the game into run-rule territory.

Notable performances included Lawrence reaching base for his 23rd consecutive game. Illinois State's pitching staff successfully navigated bases-loaded situations in both the first and fourth innings. Additionally, redshirt junior Judah Morris achieved his MVC-leading 15th double during the fourth inning.

Looking ahead, Illinois State will travel for a midweek game against Northwestern on Tuesday, with the first pitch scheduled for 3:30 p.m. CT in Evanston.
