The Illinois State men's basketball team has announced the addition of Landon Wolf, a former standout guard from Northern Iowa, to their roster for the 2024-25 season. This marks the second newcomer for the Redbirds during this year's transfer portal period.
"Landon Wolf addresses immediate needs for us in terms of shooting and positional length," said Pedon. "We are certainly familiar with his floor game and believe that his ability to make plays off the bounce is a fairly underrated aspect of his game. He has logged over 700 career minutes in the Missouri Valley Conference, and he understands what is required to win games in our conference. We also love the competitive edge that Landon possesses. He comes to us with a lot to prove, and he made that very clear to us throughout his recruiting process. For those reasons and more, we are excited to welcome Landon to our Redbird family."
Wolf hails from Cedar Falls, Iowa, and brings two seasons of eligibility with him. In his last season as a redshirt sophomore at Northern Iowa, he participated in 30 games as a reserve player, averaging 4.7 points per game while achieving a shooting accuracy of 48.5 percent from the field and 43.3 percent from three-point range. His academic performance was recognized with selections to both the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team and MVC Scholar-Athlete Honorable Mention.
The 6-foot-5 guard had notable performances including scoring a season-high 18 points against North Texas in the opener and reaching double figures five times throughout the year. Notably, he scored 16 points against Valparaiso on February 14 and added another strong performance with 14 points at home against them on February 27.
During his redshirt freshman year in 2022-23, Wolf played all 32 games averaging 24 minutes per contest which earned him recognition on the MVC All-Bench Team as well as an MVC Scholar-Athlete Third Team honor alongside being named again on CSC All-District squad selection list . He averaged an impressive statistic line featuring seven-point-four point-per-game averages along hitting forty-three percent shots taken beyond arc lines.
Wolf's early career included standout achievements such as being named Class Four A First Team All-State honoree out from Cedar Falls High School where finished fifth statewide making seventy-seven three-pointers whilst maintaining sixteen-point-nine average scores per game alongside receiving McDonald's All-America nomination recognition too .
Joining Wolf will be fellow incoming transfer Boden Skunberg alongside Cade Norris & Jack Daugherty who are both freshmen selected onto All-State teams making up four new additions altogether joining forces within Redbird ranks come next season start-up time frame .
