Junior athlete Mattison Plummer has secured her place in the NCAA National Championships following a commendable performance at the NCAA West Preliminary Round held in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Plummer excelled in the 3,000m steeplechase event, finishing seventh overall with a personal-best time of 10:11.55. This achievement places her sixth on the all-time list for her school.
In other events, senior Macy Byer participated in the discus competition and achieved a personal-best mark of 53.15 meters (174-4), securing 29th place. Byer overcame initial setbacks by scratching her first two attempts before achieving her best mark on the final attempt.
Graduate student Claire Fuhlhage also competed in the 3,000m steeplechase, recording a time of 10:44.81 and finishing 29th overall.
The upcoming schedule includes Senior Amiri Buchanan and Plummer traveling to Eugene, Oregon to compete at Hayward Field during the NCAA National Championships from June 5-8.
