The Illinois Wesleyan University baseball team concluded its 20-game College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin season with several players receiving accolades. The conference office announced the annual All-CCIW teams on Tuesday, May 7, recognizing six Titans for their performance.
Junior Justin Gadomski and sophomore Cole Shamhart were named to the first team. Shamhart achieved a perfect record of 8-0 this season, including a 4-0 record in conference play. He totaled 41 strikeouts over 33.2 innings in six CCIW appearances. "Shamhart was the first and last Titan to receive CCIW Pitcher of the Week," awarded three times during the season on March 4, March 18, and April 29.
Gadomski excelled at bat with a .416 average over 77 at-bats, scoring 18 runs and achieving five doubles, one triple, and one home run. His defensive skills were highlighted by a .972 fielding percentage with 23 putouts and 47 assists. Gadomski earned the CCIW Hitter of the Week on April 1.
Senior Louis Perona was honored for the second time in his career as he completed the league season with a .319 batting average across all games. Perona also received a CCIW Hitter of the Week award on April 15.
Junior Tyler Woltman was recognized as IWU's starting catcher on the second team, boasting a .386 batting average with notable performances such as his breakout game against Carthage where he went three-for-four.
Freshman John Philip Ferraro also made it to the second team after an impressive second half of the season with seven multi-hit games and leading IWU in batting average during league play.
Sophomore Will Davidsmeier contributed significantly from the mound, earning second-team honors with four league starts resulting in a 4-1 record and holding opponents to a .167 batting average.
Senior Micheal Passarelli received IWU's RESPECT Award for his contributions to sportsmanship and character.
The Titans secured third seed in this week's CCIW Tournament from May 8-11 at Holmgren Athletic Stadium in Chicago. They are scheduled to face Carthage College tomorrow at North Park University.
