The Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team, ranked third nationally, is four strokes behind the leader after the first round of the NCAA Division III Preview. The team tied for second place by scoring 301 at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas on Sunday, October 29.
Three members of the Titans are among the top-20 players. Junior Quinn Clifford from Chicago tied for eighth with a score of one-over 73. Sophomore Jackson Hulsey from St. Charles tied for 11th at two-over 74, and fifth-year Bobby Beaubien from Barrington tied for 16th with a score of 76.
Sewanee leads the team standings with a score of 297. Grayson Maddox shares medalist honors with Pomona-Pitzer's John Kim at two-under, 70. Illinois Wesleyan shares second place with No.1-ranked Methodist while Carnegie Mellon and Pomona-Pitzer complete the top five.
The second round will begin on Monday, October 30, starting at 8 a.m. PT, with Illinois Wesleyan scheduled to tee off beginning at 9:40 a.m. PT.
