Illinois Wesleyan finishes fifth at Jekyll Island Collegiate golf tournament

The Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team, ranked fourth nationally, began their spring season with a fifth-place finish at the Jekyll Island Collegiate on March 24. The tournament took place at King & Prince Golf Course in St. Simons Island, Georgia. The team completed the event with a total score of 879 after rounds of 292, 292, and 295.

Bobby Beaubien from Barrington, Illinois led the team by tying for 20th place individually with scores of 73-73-74 for a total of 220 over three rounds. Sophomore Michael Spitzer tied for 27th with scores totaling 221 (70-75-76), while Juney Bai tied for 33rd at 222 (72-72-78).

Oglethorpe University claimed victory in the tournament with an overall score of 870. Carnegie Mellon University secured second place with a score of 875, followed by Guilford College in third at 876. Rhodes College narrowly surpassed Illinois Wesleyan to take fourth place with a total score of 877.

Illinois Wesleyan is set to host the IWU Invite on April 5-6. The first round will be played at Ironwood Golf Course and the second round at Weibring Golf Course.
