Junior Nick Roper from Illinois Wesleyan University's men's basketball team has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Week for the period ending February 11. The announcement was made by the league office on Monday, February 12. This marks Roper's second weekly award this season, having previously received it on January 15.
Roper, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, played a key role in guiding Illinois Wesleyan to victories against two top teams in the league from February 7 to February 10. These wins secured at least a share of the CCIW Regular Season title for IWU and ensured their position as the No. 1 seed in the upcoming CCIW Tournament.
Throughout these games, Roper averaged 21.5 points per game with a field goal percentage of 50.0%. His performance from beyond the arc was even more notable with a conversion rate of 60.0%, while he finished an impressive 16-for-17 at the free throw line. Additionally, he averaged 5.5 rebounds per game over this two-game period.
Roper began his standout week by scoring a career-high of 25 points and grabbing eight rebounds in a challenging win over Elmhurst on February 7. He then contributed another strong performance with 18 points against Carthage on February 10, helping secure IWU's all-time record of their 33rd CCIW Regular Season title.
The Titans are set to play next at North Park University on Wednesday, February 14, with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m. at NPU Gymnasium.
