The Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team is set to face Aurora University on Saturday, November 4. The match will be held at Shirk Center and will serve as senior day for the Titans, honoring six seniors: Annika Altekruse, Taylor Babec, Maddie Dryfhout, Jordan Pierce, Lily Summers, and Faith Washko.
Illinois Wesleyan (15-12) enters the game after a victory over Webster University on November 1. Sophomore Taylor French led with 16 kills and a .406 attack percentage. Lily Summers contributed nine kills with a .474 clip. Jordan Pierce provided 20 assists. Freshman Olivia deGuzman and French led the defense with 12 and 11 digs respectively.
French has been recognized as the American Volleyball Coaches Association/GameChanger National Player of the Week. She ranks second nationally in points (565) and kills (499), fifth in points per set (5.28), and seventh in kills per set (4.66). Summers follows with 171 kills this season.
Pierce and freshman Sophia Feeney have been key in organizing the offense, accumulating 436 and 324 assists respectively. French leads in aces with 47 this season while Washko follows with 26.
Defensively, French leads with 371 digs, followed by Washko's 322 and Feeney's 203. Freshman Eleanor Palmer leads in blocks with a total of 64.
This upcoming match marks the teams' 16th meeting since their series began in 1994. Illinois Wesleyan holds a lead in the series at 10-5, having won their last encounter on September 16, 2022.
