The Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team is set to face North Park University in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament Semifinal on Thursday, November 9. The match will take place at North Park's venue, with the action beginning at 7 p.m.
Illinois Wesleyan, holding a record of 17-12, enters the semifinal as the fourth seed. They secured their spot by defeating Augustana College in four sets on Tuesday night. Sophomore Taylor French played a pivotal role in that victory with a career-high 29 kills. Seniors Jordan Pierce and Lily Summers also contributed significantly, with Pierce achieving a career-high 48 assists and Summers posting a career-best 17 digs.
North Park University comes into the match as the top seed after an undefeated regular season in CCIW play, boasting a record of 23-6. They had a bye in the first round of the tournament.
Taylor French has been one of the nation's leading offensive players this season, topping national charts with 555 kills and 622 points. Her average of 5.41 points per set ranks fourth nationally, while her kills per set are fifth highest in Division III.
In addition to French's contributions, Lily Summers ranks second for Illinois Wesleyan with 189 kills this season. Junior Morgan Harrington completes the top three with 165 kills. Jordan Pierce leads the team in assists with 530, followed by freshman Sophia Feeney and junior Abby Erdman.
Defensively, French and senior Faith Washko lead Illinois Wesleyan with significant dig numbers—399 and 350 respectively—with Washko averaging a team-best of over five digs per set. Freshman Eleanor Palmer has been notable for her blocking ability, recording a team-high of 69 blocks.
Historically, Illinois Wesleyan holds an advantage over North Park with a series record of 36-3. However, North Park won their most recent encounter earlier this season on October 11.
