The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team is preparing to face Augustana College in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) match. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, October 4, at Thorson-Lucken Field in Rock Island, Illinois, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
Illinois Wesleyan currently holds a 1-9-1 record and is seeking its first CCIW victory after a recent loss to Wheaton College. Junior Madalyn Buxton scored her first goal for the Titans during the match against Wheaton on September 30, but the team was unable to maintain their lead as Wheaton secured two goals in the second half.
Buxton is among several key players including juniors Tegan Timerman and Amanda Yaeger, along with freshmen Sophie Lampert and Ava Mapes. Mapes leads the team with two goals from an earlier game against Knox College.
Historically, IWU has maintained a strong series record against Augustana with 19 wins, nine losses, and eight draws since their first encounter in 1994. In their last meeting on October 5, 2022, IWU defeated Augustana with a score of 3-0. Caelyn Bieterman (nee Steffens), now an assistant coach for IWU, scored two goals in that match.
The upcoming game will be available via live stream and live stats online.
