The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team is preparing to face Carthage College Firebirds in their first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) match for the 2023 season. The game will take place on Saturday, September 23, at Nies Field with a kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. This match will be the first part of a doubleheader event, followed by the IWU men's soccer team match.

Illinois Wesleyan has faced a challenging start this season, having played against four ranked teams: UW-La Crosse, Wartburg, Emory, and WashU. As they enter the CCIW play, the Titans hold a record of 1-7-0. In contrast, Carthage comes into this matchup with an overall record of 2-3-2.

Recently, IWU experienced a defeat against No. 4 WashU with a scoreline of 3-0. Audrey Hoffstetter served as goalkeeper for the Titans during this game and made nine saves from twelve shots on goal. On the same day, Carthage also faced a loss against UW-Whitewater with a score of 2-1; Kendall Hennelly scored her first goal of the season for Carthage in that match.

The historical series between Illinois Wesleyan and Carthage dates back to 1994. The Titans lead with a series record of 20 wins, nine losses, and four draws. They have won their last four encounters against Carthage, including a decisive 4-0 victory on September 24, 2022.

The women's match will begin at 1 p.m., serving as an introduction to the IWU men's soccer game scheduled for later that afternoon at 3:30 p.m. Both matches will be available via live stream and live stats online.
