Six athletes from Illinois Wesleyan University's women's teams have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District At-Large team, as announced on June 24. The women's golf team had all five of its lineup members recognized, while one member from the women's lacrosse team was also honored.
Sophomore Sarah Riepe, a lacrosse player majoring in elementary education, received this academic accolade for the first time. Golf seniors Emma Thorman and Lexi Onsrud, along with juniors Macy Ludwig, Jacque O'Neill, and Jadyn Spinks were also named to the list. Onsrud leads with her third award, followed by Thorman and Ludwig who earned it for the second time. O'Neill and Spinks are first-time recipients.
Onsrud is a two-time Academic All-America honoree. She will advance to the Academic All-America ballot alongside Thorman and Ludwig. Riepe had a notable sophomore season contributing significantly to her team's defense.
Onsrud majors in health promotion and fitness management. Her achievements include receiving the NCAA Elite 90TM award and being an all-region honoree three times. She ended her collegiate career with significant accolades including a top-20 finish at eight tournaments out of eleven during the season.
Thorman set a program record with an average of 74.9 strokes per round over 26.5 rounds in 11 tournaments. Majoring in secondary education and English literature, she finished third at the NCAA Championship setting another program record.
Ludwig majors in marketing and posted her best career average this season at 76.4 strokes per round across 11 tournaments. She was recognized twice as CCIW Golfer of the Week.
O'Neill majors in business with a minor in finance and achieved six top-20 finishes this season with an average of 78.5 strokes per round.
Spinks is majoring in psychology with a minor in health and recorded her best career average this year at 78.7 strokes per round across several tournaments.
The results for those advancing to the Academic All-America ballot will be announced on July 16.
