The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team secured a victory against Augustana College in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin match held on Wednesday night, October 16. The Titans improved their record to 9-1-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference, while the Vikings fell to 4-5-1 overall and 1-4 in league play.

Senior Mush Bakridan scored the decisive goal in the 34th minute with a free kick, assisted by sophomore Joey Rodino. Bakridan's right-footed shot was skillfully placed high middle, deceiving the defenders.

Throughout the first half, the Titans dominated with 13 shots on goal compared to the Vikings' five and earned four corner kicks while limiting Augustana to one. Junior goalkeeper Sam Kedzior contributed two saves during his time on the field for IWU.

In the second half, Augustana's goalkeeper Benjamin Samuelson effectively defended his net, preventing further goals from IWU. Sophomore Matthew Perchik attempted a shot that Samuelson deflected, and senior Logan Shumaker also had an attempt blocked by Samuelson at close range.

Despite numerous attempts in the second half—14 additional shots—the Titans could not extend their lead. Both teams had opportunities but were unable to score again, resulting in a final score of 1-0 favoring Illinois Wesleyan. Kedzior finished with eight saves after playing all 90 minutes.

Looking ahead, Illinois Wesleyan will face Elmhurst College on Saturday, October 19 at Langhorst Field at 7 p.m.
