The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team secured a 2-0 victory against Lake Forest College on Wednesday evening, September 25. This away win extended their unbeaten streak to six matches this season.
Sophomore Ryder Coleman contributed significantly with two goals, while junior Sam Kedzior achieved his sixth shutout of the season. As a result, IWU improved its record to 6-0-1, whereas Lake Forest's record fell to 1-6-2. This victory also allowed IWU to match its win total from each of the past three seasons. The current six-match winning streak is the second-longest in the program's history and the longest since 2018.
In the early stages of the game, sophomore Matthew Perchik assisted Coleman for a goal just ten minutes into play. This marked Coleman's fifth goal of the season.
After halftime, Illinois Wesleyan solidified their lead in the 86th minute when junior Logan Tierney assisted Coleman for his second goal of the match and sixth of the season.
Despite being outshot by Lake Forest 11-10, Kedzior made five saves and successfully defended against nine corners from Lake Forest College.
The Titans will travel next to Crawfordsville, Indiana, where they will face Wabash College on Saturday, September 28 at Fischer Field. The game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET.
