Iosio leads Redbirds with wins at EIU Panther Invitational

The Illinois State Women's Tennis team concluded their participation in the EIU Panther Invitational with notable performances, securing victories in both singles and doubles categories. The event took place in Charleston, Illinois.

Nicole Iosio, a key player for the Redbirds, achieved her fifth win on Sunday. In singles competition, she overcame Lovissa Valentinisson from Miami of Ohio in a three-set match with scores of 6-4, 6-2, and 10-8.

In doubles play, Iosio teamed up with freshman Emma Lindh to defeat Eastern Illinois University's Charleigh Fay and Ornella Lomenzo by a score of 7-5. However, the No. 1 doubles pair from Illinois State, Zoe Limparis and Elena Jankulovska, were narrowly defeated by Miami of Ohio's duo Dev/Olviera with a scoreline of 6-3.

The results from the matches are as follows:

Singles:

No. 1 - Nicole Iosio (ISU) def. Lovissa Valentinsson (Miami of Ohio) 6-4, 6-2, 10-8

Doubles:

No. 1 - Dev/Olveira (Miami of Ohio) def. Zoe Limparis/Elena Jankulovska (ISU) 6-3

No. 2 - Nicole Iosio/Emma Lindh (ISU) def. Fay/Lomenzo (EIU) 7-5

Looking ahead, the Redbirds will return to their home court on November 2nd for the two-day Redbird Duals at the Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington.
