Returning to their home field for the first time since early March, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team will face Southwestern University on Thursday, March 28. The non-conference game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Tucci Stadium.
The Titans recently secured a victory against Albion University with a score of 15-8 on March 23. Senior Trystan Seeley from Castle Rock, Colorado led the team with four goals and five points, while junior Sam Weinberg from Highwood, Illinois contributed three goals. Defensively, senior Zo Lombardo from Elgin, Illinois achieved a team-high of 11 ground balls and won 16 out of 26 faceoffs. Junior Colin Tervo from West Linn, Oregon was recognized as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in goal. This is Tervo's first career weekly honor and the first for any Titan this season. He recorded 17 saves during the match against Albion, just one short of his career-best, resulting in a .680 save percentage.
Illinois Wesleyan enters Thursday's match with a record of 4-3 after consecutive wins over Albion and Colorado College. Meanwhile, Southwestern arrives in Bloomington with a 2-9 record following a significant loss to Montclair State on March 24. The Titans and Pirates have only met once before when Southwestern narrowly won with an 11-10 score on March 19, 2021.
