Illinois Wesleyan University's men's soccer team secured a place in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament semifinals following a victory over North Park University. The Titans, with a record of 5-6-4, will face Wheaton College on November 1 at 7 p.m.
The match began with North Park taking an early lead in the 14th minute. However, Illinois Wesleyan equalized in the final minutes of regulation when CJ Rodriguez scored his second goal of the year after an assist from Sasha Tylnyy.
In overtime, Brody Seaton gave Illinois Wesleyan their first lead with his third goal of the season. Despite this advantage, North Park leveled the score again in the 109th minute, pushing the game to penalties.
During penalties, Sam Kedzior made crucial saves that set up Ryan Miller's decisive penalty kick in the eighth round. "Kedzior stood tall on the Vikings' next attempt," which allowed Miller to secure victory for Illinois Wesleyan.
This win marks Illinois Wesleyan's first CCIW Tournament semifinal appearance since 2019. They are scheduled to compete against Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois.
