The Illinois Wesleyan University women's bowling team concluded its participation in the Lions "Match Play" Classic, hosted by Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri. The competition took place over two days, from October 22 to 23.
On the first day, the Titans competed in three traditional matches and ended phase one with a total pinfall of 2070. Freshman Kiera Henderson from Silvis, Illinois, led the team with a career-high score of 201 in the first game. The subsequent games resulted in scores of 665 and 654, with Henderson achieving a final tally of 501 after all three matches.
Phase two consisted of eight two-game baker matches. The Titans played seven matches and had a bye in one. They finished this phase with a total pinfall of 1990 across 16 individual baker matches.
In the final phase, IWU participated in a best-of-three baker bracket. They initially defeated the University of Saint Mary with scores of 149-123, 112-161, and 151-136 but were later defeated by Lindenwood University in two straight games (213-152, 173-169).
Following their match against Lindenwood, IWU faced Columbia College. Although they lost the first game with a pinfall of 186-155, they managed to win the second game with a score of 181-168. However, Columbia College secured victory in the third round with a pinfall of 214 to IWU's 132.
The Titans will have a short break before participating in their next event at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament #1 on November 19-20, hosted by Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois.
