The Medicare open enrollment period for Illinois seniors began on October 15 and will continue until December 7. During this time, eligible seniors can review and select from different health and drug plan options.
Choosing the right plan can be challenging due to complex prescription requirements and varying co-payments. To support seniors in making informed decisions, the Illinois Department on Aging is providing assistance through the Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP). SHIP works with local health departments and Area Agencies on Aging to offer counseling sessions for those who schedule appointments. Seniors interested in these services can find a list of SHIP counseling offices online.
