The Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team secured victories against Simpson College and Albion College during the IWU Classic held on Saturday, October 26. The Titans improved their season record to 18-6 with these wins.
In the first match, Illinois Wesleyan defeated Simpson College in straight sets with scores of 25-23, 25-16, and 25-16. Taylor French led the Titans with ten kills. Cailin Shannon and Alex Bardouniotis each contributed eight kills. Hannah Tellor added seven kills while Jordan Pierce recorded 18 assists and tied Bardouniotis for two aces.
Simpson's performance saw them fall to a record of 7-14. The Titans had a .168 hitting percentage compared to Simpson's .088, leading in kills by a margin of 42-26. They also outperformed in digs (64-53) and assists (37-23).
In their second match against Albion College, Illinois Wesleyan triumphed in four sets with scores of 18-25, 25-10, 25-14, and 25-22. Bardouniotis achieved a career-high of sixteen kills on a .500 attack percentage. French matched this kill count while Tellor added eight more.
The Titans displayed strong net defense with a total of twelve blocks compared to Albion's four. Morgan Harrington set her career-high with seven blocks.
Following these victories, Illinois Wesleyan aims to complete an undefeated record in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin as they prepare for their final league match against Carroll University on Tuesday night.
