FOIA Request to City of Le Roy Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at McLean County Times have submitted a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. The request was sent to the City of Le Roy on October 30, 2024.
Our request pertains specifically to residential and commercial building permits issued by the city from January 1, 2023, up until the present date. We are seeking a list that includes the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address where the construction is taking place, and contractor's name.
In addition to this, we have also requested a list of all currently active residential and commercial building permits along with their status. The details sought in this regard are similar - type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address where the construction is happening and contractor's name.
As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public through our reporting efforts, we believe access to these public records is essential. We have therefore requested a fee waiver as per our rights as media professionals.
