The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team celebrated a significant achievement as junior Jerry Smazil was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region fourth team. This recognition marks Smazil as the ninth player from the program to earn such an honor.

Smazil, hailing from Downers Grove, Illinois, played a pivotal role in his team's performance this season. He was one of only two players on the Titans' roster to start all 18 games. As a key player in midfield, he contributed both offensively and defensively, leading the team to a 9-5-4 overall record and a 3-4-1 record in conference play. During his three years with the Titans, Smazil recorded an assist against Carthage on October 5 and helped guide his team to their seventh appearance in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament, reaching the semifinals.

In addition to his athletic achievements, Smazil earned recognition for his academic performance by receiving his second consecutive College Sports Communicators Academic All-District award.
