The Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team achieved a decisive 7-0 victory against Concordia University Chicago in a non-conference match on Monday, September 30. This win marked the team's fifth victory of the season, improving their record to 5-2.
In doubles play, Illinois Wesleyan secured the point with a clean sweep. Freshmen Katie Van Heuklon and Gabi Lipske won at the top spot with a score of 6-2. Sophomore Olivia Bell and senior Kate Christian achieved a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles. The No. 3 doubles match was claimed by sophomore Carly Edwards and freshman Angela Zatloka with a score of 6-3.
In singles competition, sophomore Amber Ehrlich earned her sixth win of the season at No. 1 singles with set scores of 6-0, 6-1. Gabi Lipske won at No. 2 singles without conceding a game, finishing both sets at 6-0. Katie Van Heuklon took the No. 3 singles match with scores of 6-2, 6-4. Kate Christian claimed victory in her second match of the day at No. 4 singles with set scores of 6-2, 6-0. Carly Edwards won the No. 5 singles match by scores of 6-2, 6-3, while Angela Zatloka completed the sweep at No. 6 singles with scores of 6-0, 6-3.
Looking ahead, Illinois Wesleyan will resume College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin action this weekend with matches against Carthage College on Saturday and Carroll University on Sunday.
