The Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team has had four players named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. This recognition was announced by the organization on Tuesday, December 17.
Junior Kannyn Boyd and senior Abby Erdman have each earned this accolade for the second time in their careers. Meanwhile, sophomore Sophia Feeney and junior Hannah Tellor are receiving this honor for the first time.
Eligibility for this award requires a student-athlete to have participated in 90 percent or started 66 percent of matches during the season while maintaining a minimum grade point average of 3.50.
Kannyn Boyd, an elementary education major with a perfect GPA of 4.0, previously received CSC Academic All-District honors at Division II Newberry College last season. She led her team in digs and played a crucial role in helping Illinois Wesleyan reach the NCAA Tournament Regional Championship. "Boyd accrued 57 digs in nine sets," contributing significantly to her team's performance.
Abby Erdman, a business major with a GPA of 3.71, concluded her career by earning her second Academic All-District honor after first achieving it in 2022. "Erdman finished second on the team in assists with 428," and marked significant milestones such as reaching her 1000th career assist against Wheaton College.
Sophomore Sophia Feeney earned her first academic award with a GPA of 3.71 as a marketing major. She served as the primary setter for most of the season and achieved Second Team All-CCIW honors due to her impressive statistics.
Hannah Tellor, also recognized for the first time academically at IWU, transferred from Illinois Central College where she was previously honored as an NJCAA First Team All-Academic honoree. With a GPA of 3.79, Tellor played an essential role on her team throughout the season.
The CSC Academic All-America teams will be announced on January 14 at noon ET.
