The Illinois Wesleyan University men's wrestling team is set to return to competition after a break. The team will participate in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin events on Monday, January 6. They will travel to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for a triangular meet against Carthage College and host school Milwaukee School of Engineering at the Kern Center. IWU will face Carthage at 5 p.m., followed by a match against MSOE at 6:30 p.m.

In their last competition at the North Central College Invitational on December 14, sophomore Austin Johnston and freshman Ameer Alamawi each achieved records of 2-2. Johnston, competing in the 141-pound weight class, secured two pins during the event and currently leads his team with four pins this season. His performance earned him the sixth spot in the National Wrestling Coaches Association rankings for his weight class as of December 20.

This upcoming meet marks IWU's first dual encounters with both Carthage and MSOE. Carthage has recorded a season record of 3-2 in duals and holds a conference record of 2-2, with victories over Wheaton and Concordia-Wisconsin. Meanwhile, MSOE has an overall record of 2-2 and stands at 1-2 in league matches, including a decisive win over Concordia-Wisconsin.

Earlier this season, IWU faced Millikin and North Central—the top two teams in the CCIW—and enters Monday's competitions with a perfect record of 2-0.

The evening will commence with Illinois Wesleyan taking on Carthage at 5 p.m., followed by their matchup against MSOE at 6:30 p.m. The night will conclude with a dual between Carthage and MSOE at 8 p.m. Final results from these matches will be available on the men's wrestling schedule page on iwusports.com once all competitions have concluded.
