Illinois Wesleyan men's volleyball wins two matches at home triangular

The Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team claimed victory in both matches during the IWU Triangular I event held in Bloomington, Illinois, on January 18. The Titans began their day with a straight-set win against the University of Olivet, recording scores of 25-11, 25-14, and 25-18. They later overcame Lakeland University in four sets with scores of 25-15, 22-25, 25-19, and 25-18.

In the match against Olivet, Illinois Wesleyan showcased a strong performance with a .342 attack percentage while limiting their opponents to zero. Freshman Trey Marek made an impactful debut with seven kills and three aces. Senior Luke Hartke and freshman Gavin Rohlwing contributed four kills each. The team also excelled defensively with junior Jace Milka leading in digs.

Against Lakeland University, IWU secured the win by capitalizing on key moments despite losing the second set. Sophomore Bryce Williams played a crucial role with seven kills and three aces. Vince DiCosola led assists with fifteen.

IWU's defensive strategy proved effective as they limited Lakeland to a .044 attack percentage compared to their own .200.

Following these victories, the Titans are scheduled to play at Rockford University on January 21 at 7 p.m., marking their first away game of the season.
